JAM 2027 Registration to Begin September 12: IIT Kharagpur Revises Schedule, Check Exam Details
New Delhi: The Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur (IIT Kharagpur) has revised the registration schedule for the Joint Admission Test for Masters (JAM) 2027. According to the latest update on the official JAM website, the online registration process will begin on September 12, 2026.
The JAM 2027 examination will be conducted in computer-based test (CBT) mode on February 14, 2027, in two sessions. JAM scores will be used for admission to postgraduate programmes at the 23 IITs and other participating institutes for the academic year 2027-28.
JAM 2027 Registration: How to Apply
Candidates will have to register through the JAM Online Application Processing System (JOAPS).
During the registration process, applicants will be required to provide:
- Name of the candidate
- Valid email ID
- Active mobile number
- A password created by the candidate
After successful registration, an enrollment ID and OTP will be sent to the registered email address and mobile number.
Through JOAPS, candidates will be able to complete the application form, upload their photograph and signature, submit the required documents, pay the examination fee and track their application status.
Candidates should carefully check all details before submitting the application.
JAM 2027: Seven Test Papers
JAM 2027 will be conducted for seven test papers:
- Biotechnology (BT)
- Chemistry (CY)
- Economics (EN)
- Geology (GG)
- Mathematics (MA)
- Mathematical Statistics (MS)
- Physics (PH)
Candidates can appear for one or two test papers. Those choosing two papers can select only papers scheduled in different examination sessions.
JAM 2027 Exam Schedule
Each JAM 2027 test paper will have a duration of three hours.
Forenoon Session — 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM
- Chemistry (CY)
- Geology (GG)
- Mathematics (MA)
Afternoon Session — 2:30 PM to 5:30 PM
- Biotechnology (BT)
- Economics (EN)
- Mathematical Statistics (MS)
- Physics (PH)
JAM 2027 Examination Cities
The examination will be conducted in approximately 114 cities across India.
While filling the application form, candidates will be required to provide their first, second and third choices of examination cities.
All three choices must belong to the same examination zone. However, candidates may be allotted an alternative city if their preferred examination city cannot be assigned due to operational reasons.
JAM Scores for Admission to 23 IITs
JAM scores will be used for admission to postgraduate programmes offered by the 23 IITs.
According to the JAM brochure, approximately 3,000 postgraduate seats are available across the IITs. Candidates seeking admission through JAM 2027 should therefore carefully check the eligibility requirements and admission conditions for their preferred programme and institute.
