New Delhi, September 1, 2026: Candidates preparing for the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) 2026 have one final day to submit their applications as the reopened registration window closes today, September 1. The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has not yet announced the revised date for the examination after postponing the test that was earlier scheduled for September 6.

The application window was reopened from August 25 to September 1 for eligible candidates who could not complete their registration during the original application period. Candidates who had already successfully submitted their CTET applications do not need to register again.

CTET 2026 Exam Date Yet to Be Announced

CBSE has said that the revised date for the 22nd edition of CTET will be announced after the application portal closes. Candidates are therefore advised to regularly check the official CTET website for the updated examination schedule.

The examination was originally scheduled for September 6, 2026. The postponement and reopening of the application window followed a Supreme Court judgment concerning the statutory requirement of Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) qualification.

CTET 2026: Who Should Apply?

The CTET is conducted for candidates seeking eligibility to teach Classes 1 to 8. Candidates who meet the prescribed eligibility requirements and have not yet submitted their applications can complete the process through the official CTET portal before the application window closes.

Candidates who successfully completed the earlier application process are not required to submit a fresh application.

CTET 2026 Application Fee

According to the available application details, General and OBC-NCL candidates are required to pay ₹1,000 for appearing in one paper and ₹1,200 for both papers.

For candidates belonging to SC, ST and PwD categories, the fee is ₹500 for one paper and ₹600 for both papers.

Candidates who are yet to apply can complete their registration by following these steps:

  • Visit the official CTET website.
  • Click on the CTET 2026 application link.
  • Select the new registration option.
  • Read the instructions and complete the registration process.
  • Enter the required personal and academic details.
  • Upload the prescribed documents.
  • Pay the applicable examination fee online.
  • Submit the application form.
  • Download and save the confirmation page for future reference.

CTET 2026 Exam Pattern

The CTET examination will consist of 150 multiple-choice questions carrying a total of 150 marks. There will be no negative marking, with one mark awarded for every correct response.

The examination comprises two papers. Paper I is intended for candidates who wish to teach Classes 1 to 5, while Paper II is for candidates seeking eligibility to teach Classes 6 to 8.
